BENEFITS OF FIBER IN DIET

Multiple benefits of Fiber in Diet

Fruits, Vegetables, Market, Nutrition

Fiber is the non-digestible part of plant foods that cross our digestive system, absorbs water from the path and facilitates bowel movements.
The dietary fiber designated by the nutrients contained in the diet is not digested by the gastrointestinal enzymes, but still play an important role.
There are two main types of fiber: soluble and insoluble.
• Soluble fiber dissolves in water. It changes by passing into the digestive tract where it is fermented by bacteria. By absorbing water, it becomes gelatinous.
• Insoluble fiber does not dissolve in water. While crossing the digestive tract, it does not change shape. It can also be fermented by bacteria in the colon.

Both forms of fiber have important health benefits
Fiber consumption has many health benefits:
Protection against Heart Disease: According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, soluble fiber is protected against heart disease and cholesterol.
Gastrointestinal Health: Fiber intake promotes intestinal transit and prevents constipation. It can also reduce the risk of developing colitis and hemorrhoids.
Diabetes: Diabetics who consume a lot of fiber tend to need less insulin than people with low fiber.
Body weight: A high fiber factor can contribute significantly to body weight control. Fiber provides a feeling of fullness without adding calories

Most fiber-rich foods are also very healthy for other reasons. Take the example of fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
They are rich in fiber but also rich in vitamins and other essential nutrients.
Insoluble fiber promotes regular bowel movements and prevents constipation, speeds up the elimination of waste through the colon and by keeping optimal ph in the intestines, helps prevent microbes from producing substances  leading to colorectal cancer.Soluble fiber:reduces cholesterol, especially levels of low-density lipoproteins (LDL – bad cholesterol).,regulates sugar intake and helps improve immune system, digestive system and overall health.
